165th Shawville Fair kicks off tomorrow

1 September 2021 à 12:00 am

The 165th edition of the Shawville Fair kicks off tomorrow afternoon, returning after last year’s festivities were scrapped due to COVID-19. This is also one of the first large events that will require proof of full vaccination for attendees, as vaccine passports come into effect in Quebec today (September 1). Pontiac Agricultural Society General Manager Sara McCann Richardson said attendees could use the app created by the provincial government or show a paper copy of their proof, along with photo ID.

McCann Richardson added that there will be other measures in place to comply with public health rules, such as a max capacity set at 15,000 and spreading out seating areas to cut down on large crowds of people.

McCann Richardson added that the Saturday afternoon would be dedicated to honouring Canada’s First Nations people, and would include traditional drumming and dancing.

Tickets are available online or at the gate. The details on programming for the 2021 Shawville Fair are available here.

The full interview with McCann Richardson is available here.
