At the MRC Pontiac council of mayors meeting on September 18, council approved nearly a dozen grants for local projects through the Regions and Rurality Fund (FRR) component 2. The fund is distributed by the provincial Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing (MAMH) and administered locally by the MRC. Component 2 is for projects to improve living environments in the region, and/or to create and maintain jobs on the MRC Pontiac territory (full list of priorities/criteria available here). The selection was made by an analysis committee appointed by the council of mayors.

Of the 25 projects that were submitted (requesting $1,408,392.70 in grants), 11 made the final cut, with total of $597,992.21 awarded out of $600,000 available.

Chapeau Gallérie – Allumettes Island Tourism Committee: Repairs to the Chapeau Regional Gallery – Phase 1 ($75,438.49)

Bouffe Pontiac: Health and safety renovation – phase 2 ($53,729.48)

Alleyn-et-Cawood: Revitalizing the municipal library ($29,371.34)

Bristol: Norway Bay pier revitalization ($31,328.27)

Bryson: Shade project at Havelock Park and Bryson beach ($39,977.60)

Fort-Coulonge: Installation of a self-cleaning toilet – Village relais ($96,980.68)
