MRC Pontiac appoints Cyndy Phillips as the new Director of Economic Development

The MRC Pontiac announced the appointment of Cyndy Phillips as the new Director of Economic Development at the MRC, succeeding Danielle Newman who announced her resignation in December 2019.

With more than fifteen years of experience working in the public and private sectors, Phillips was described as a person with “extensive experience in business development, investment attraction, tourism development, marketing and strategic planning.”

Before being appointed, Phillips was an economic development officer for the MRC Pontiac.

We are fortunate to live and work in such a beautiful region and I look forward to developing the potential growth of our economy. We have tremendous opportunities and benefits here that we need to take advantage of, such as our cross-border position, our competitive land rates, and our low operating costs. The MRC’s team of talented economic development professionals and I look forward to continuing to advance our economy.’’

In an interview with CHIP 101,9, Cyndy Phillips talked about her plan moving forward with the MRC in terms of economic development.

Until recently, Cyndy Phillips has served on the board of directors of the Eastern Ontario Economic Development Commission. She was also vice-president of the Ottawa Valley Tourist Association and the Upper Ottawa Valley Chamber of Commerce. She eventually helped form a non-profit organization: The Greater Petawawa Area Trails Association.
