Félix-Gabriel-Marchand bridge lighting ceremony postponed

21 January 2022 à 12:00 am

The Phare Ouest organization and its partner in the lighting of the Félix-Gabriel-Marchand bridge in Mansfield, Novom Interactive, have announced that they will be postponing the unveiling ceremony originally planned for January 28.

In a statement, Phare Ouest spokesperson Louis Harvey said that the extreme cold of the past week has hampered the installation of the equipment.

“The exceptional low temperature has caused cables to stiffen making it impossible for the technicians to manipulate the electrical wires without breaking them. Moreover, some connections have to be made with bare hands. Following a whole week’s operation on the bridge under -30°C, and after discussion with technician and experts, we have decided to wait for a better circumstance to complete the interactive lighting installation,” he wrote.

Harvey added that despite the setback, around 60% of the work had been completed and they would be confirming a new date in the spring shortly. He concluded by saying that he was convinced the spectacle would be “worth the wait.”

Note that now that the work has concluded, the bridge is open to traffic today (January 21).
