Two arrested after attempted cable theft in Davidson
Two people have been arrested following an attempted theft of overhead wires on rue Thomas-Lefebvre in Mansfield-et-Pontefract early Friday morning. At around 6 a.m. on October 25, police were called to the area for a theft in progress involving cables being removed from poles along the street.
Sûreté du Québec spokesperson Sgt. Marc Tessier said that with the public’s help they were able to arrest a man and a woman from Gatineau, both 36-years-old, who were interviewed and released with dates at the Campbell’s Bay courthouse. He said they could be facing charges of theft, mischief and breach of probation.
According to a witness, crews from Cogeco and Bell were on scene for much of the afternoon to fix the lines.
Tessier added that the investigation is ongoing and further arrests could be made.
