Hundreds of young trees were up for grabs at the MRC Pontiac’s office in Campbell’s Bay on May 31 as part of the provincial Ministry of Natural Resources’ “Mois de l’arbre et des forêts” which takes place every year in May.
MRC Territory Director Jason Durand explained that they had five varieties available: sugar maple, white spruce, white pine, red pine and yellow birch.

He added that this year they also have Martin Boucher of the Groupment Forestier du Pontiac as well as Patrick Crocker of the Agence des forêts privées de l’Outaouais to discuss the ins and outs of private forestry on the territory. There was also a popular charity barbeque for local food bank Bouffe Pontiac.
Trees were also available at several other locations throughout the region, including the following municipal offices: Alleyn-and-Cawood, Bristol, Bryson Chichester, Clarendon, l’Île-du-Grand-Calumet, Mansfield-et-Pontefract, L’Isle-aux-Allumettes, Otter-Lake, Rapides-des-Joachims, Sheenboro and Waltham.
