Connexions hosts seminar on Alzheimer’s in Shawville

23 May 2024 à 3:29 pm

On May 23, Connexions Resource Centre held a seminar at St-Paul’s Anglican Church in Shawville on the subject of Alzheimer’s disease, the most common form of dementia. Connexions is a non-profit organization with the goal of promoting health and well-being for the English-speaking community in the Outaouais.

The speaker was Dr. André Moreau, a specialist from the Memory Clinic in Ottawa, whose presentation covered everything from symptoms and risk factors to how to care for someone with Alzheimer’s.

Diane Wheatley, the regional seniors coordinator for Connexions, explained that the presentation was a way to clear up some common misconceptions about the disease and advise attendees about where they can receive services in the area.

Wheatley, who has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s herself, said that she hoped attendees would come away with a more nuanced understanding of how people live with the disease.

More information is available on the Connexions website.
