Front Commun planning week-long strike starting Friday

6 December 2023 à 3:55 pm

Hundreds of thousands of public sector workers are set to return to their picket lines for a week-long strike starting this Friday if their unions do not come to an agreement with the provincial government.

The Front Commun, a coalition of unions representing more than 420,000 workers across the province, has already held four strike days since the start of November. In a press release issued after their last three days of strikes, they say that this action is their last before launching an “unlimited general strike” and says they wish to reach an agreement with the government before the holidays. If an agreement is not reached, they plan to strike from December 8 to 14.

Radio-Canada reports that the Quebec government issued new offers to the unions around 3 p.m. this afternoon.

More details to come.
