Familiprix Marc Aufranc offers molecular screening tests for streptococcus A, influenza and COVID

19 January 2023 à 2:28 pm

Some pharmacies have started offering molecular tests screening for streptococcus A, influenza and COVID. This is the case for the Familiprix Marc Aufranc Pharmacy in Shawville, which will now offer the tests for $45 and $55, each individual test that will allow clients to get a fast result and know exactly what disease they have.

“We acquired this machine to allow us to detect streptococcal enzymes, influenza (the flu), and COVID on a molecular scale. The PCR test, which is a brand not the actual test, but it detects COVID. However this machine tests on a molecular level, meaning it is much more specific than the home tests and much more sensitive as well. So, it’s more effective and you can know faster and earlier when you have COVID,” said Marc Aufranc, owner of the Familiprix. “On the other hand, this machine and the cartridges aren’t free, so there will be a cost to get the tests done. However, once the test is completed, we can prescribe the appropriate medicine for you on site, so the tests do have a cost, but they have a good pay off too, especially if you want to get quick and accurate results and don’t want to have to wait at the hospital or CLSC.”

To get a test with this machine at the Familiprix Marc Aufranc, you need to make an appointment. To get one, simply call the store directly. The full interview with the owner of the Familiprix Pharmacy in Shawville, Marc Aufranc, is available here.
