Martin Bougie will take his leave as Director of l’Associaiton des radios communautaires du Québec in 2023

Martin Bougie, the director general of the association that oversees all 37 community radio station in Québec (l’Associaiton des radios communautaires du Québec (ARCQ)), which includes CHIP 101.9, will take his leave as director in 2023 after more than 20 years with the organization. Over his time as director, Bougie has been a leading the development of the community radio stations in Quebec and has an in-depth knowledge of the Pontiac, due to presiding over CHIP’s annual general meetings for over 10 years. In an interview with CHIP 101.9,’s Marie Gionet, Bougie talked about the evolution of community radio stations  over the past few years.

Among the changes, Bougie mentioned how many of ARCQ stations are no longer just radio stations, they have adapted to the new age, becoming what’s known in the media industry as content producers. As is the case with CHIP 101.9, which not only just ensures the production and distribution of 100% local news and information on the radio, but is now emersed itself into the written medium, producing more than 1,200 articles on its website, while also exploiting social media platforms and has even been leaning into video productions. Martin Bougie believes the mission of community radio station is to inform and entertain the local community it serves, that is and will always remain the strength of community radios.
