L’Isle-aux-Allumettes farmer David Gillespie set to represent Canada at Vermont agritourism conference

5 August 2022 à 12:00 am

In a press release, Vermont Governor Phil Scott declared August as the month of agritourism and at the same time indicated that the state was preparing to welcome delegates for an agritourism conference that will bring together 47 countries. Representing Canada will be L’Isle-aux-Allumettes farmer David Gillespie. He spoke to CHIP 101.9 about the main topics that will be discussed, including the unveiling of a map for the launch of an international agritourism trail. (Disclosure: Gillespie serves on the CHIP 101.9 board of directors).

“Yes, two aspects, there will be a workshop that I will present on the first day of the conference and on the last day, the last session, I will present the project of the international trail which includes Quebec, New York, Vermont and Ontario, with the Secretary of Agriculture, he will be part of my presentation,” he said (translated). “So I’m fine, I find it an honor to have him and to be a representative of the Quebec delegation as well.”

This international trail should extend over 1,000 km from Quebec to the United States and Ontario. For the moment, the Pontiac territory is not part of the map that will be launched, but as Gillespie explained, this situation could change.
