Québec’s Arts et Lettres Council awards Suzanne Vallières-Nollet of Fort-Coulonge, with $7,500 grant
The Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec, the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Habitation, the MRC’s in the Outaouais, including the MRC Pontiac, the City of Gatineau and Culture Outaouais announced $256,500 to support eight artists and six artistic organizations under the Programme de partenariat territorial de l’Outaouais.
In the Pontiac, Suzanne Vallières-Nollet received $7,500 for her project: Ce foyer qui me consume, for the writing a choral novel in an open workshop.
According to their April 04 news release, the applications were analyzed by a committee of their peers, within the Conseil, working in different artistic sectors. The artists projects were selected based on the objectives of the program, on their merit, excellence and precision, and on the budgetary availability of the partners.
Here are a few other examples of the projects the program supported:
Support for professional artists and writers — Total: $111,500
Pierre-Luc Clément (Gatineau) will receive $18,500 for his audio and narative creation: On a pas mangé de framboises depuis 1266 jours, accompanied by a live performance.
Toino Dumas (MRC des Collines-de-l’Outaouais) is being awarded $15,000 for the research and creation of a multidisciplinary arts project combining visual arts and poetry. Entitled: Espace Liminaux.
Lauranne Faubert-Guay (MRC de Papineau) will be given $12,500 for the creation of a solo contemporary dance piece entitled: Nous montagnes sans sommet (ponos II) themed on hardship and emancipation.
Mia Kelly (Gatineau) is awarded $19,000 for the creation and launch of her album Garden Through The War, addressing resilience and vulnerability.
Emily Rose Michaud (Gatineau) will be granted $19,000 for a residency project, alongside Marie-Pierre Drolet, aimed at designing interdisciplinary installations dealing with the healing of communities and nature.
Mélanie Myers (Gatineau) receives $12,000 for the conceptualization of an immersive ambulatory scenographic installation entitled Noctambule, intended for children.
Pearl Pirie (MRC des Collines-de-l’Outaouais) receives $8,000 for Received/Reçus, a research project at the Pontiac Archives in Shawville allowing her to write the first version of a collection of poems.
These projects were created with support from the following organizations.: Association des amis du Presbytère de Blue Sea (MRC de la Vallée-de-la-Gatineau), Espace Forain (MRC de Papineau), Festival Transistor OBNL (Gatineau), Fâcheux Théâtre (Gatineau), Bath water (MRC des Collines-de-l’Outaouais) and Plaisirs du clavecin (Gatineau).
