Newly elected Otter Lake Mayor Terry Lafleur sat down with CHIP 101.9 just before the first MRC Pontiac council of mayors meeting to talk about his priorities for his municipality. He was elected to the seat by acclamation, replacing former Mayor Kim Cartier Villeneuve.

Lafleur has always had family ties in the area and has lived in the municipality full-time since 2010. He said that while he has no experience in elected office, his work as a municipal inspector in various locations will help him understand the lay of the land.

He said that his priorities for this term would be to increase the population of the municipality, and to improve vital infrastructure like the roads and internet service. He said that he had recently met with his council for the first time and would be discussing their priorities for the term at another meeting next week.

At the regional level, Lafleur said that he had met with Warden Jane Toller and that jobs were at the top of his priority list. He said that he was interested in further development of Otter Lake’s intermunicipal public land (known as TPI) in collaboration with the MRC.

The full interview with Lafleur is available here.
