Allumettes councillor Louis Lair steps up to run for mayor
Residents of L’Isle-aux-Allumettes will have three choices for mayor after incumbent Winston Sunstrum announced that he would not be seeking re-election. Jeremiah Nephin, Corey Spence and Louis Lair are all vying for the top job.
With a professional background in finance, Lair has been a councillor for the past eight years. He said that he is running for the position because of his concerns around municipal infrastructure and communications. He also said that he would like to involve retirees in the area in community projects, to seek their advice and expertise.
Lair said that over the last two terms, he’s gained a lot of experience in municipal politics and said that he’d like to bring that experience to the mayor’s position, particularly when it comes to the maintenance of municipal roads.
He said that if he was elected, he would focus on improving infrastructure, like roads and internet service, to make the municipality more attractive to those thinking about moving there.
The full interview with Lair is available here.
CHIP 101.9 is pursuing interviews with the other two candidates and will broadcast them when they are complete.
