The amount of rain received in the last two days in the Coulonge River basin is very significant, according to Environment Canada data. Evolugen (Brookfield Renewable Canada) has cautioned residents living near the Coulonge River.

“We expect its level and flow to increase significantly within a few days and it is even possible that it will reach exceptional values for this time of year. As this situation deserves special attention, especially since the level and flow of the river were very low this summer, I am sending you this opinion,” said Evolugen’s environment and community relations manager Julie Chagnon (translated).

The Municipality of Mansfield-et-Pontefract recommends that residents avoid leaving objects and materials near the river. More details to come.
