MRC Pontiac seeking an economic development commissioner for agriculture
MRC Pontiac is searching for an economic development commissioner to focus on agriculture. A job offer posted on August 27 states that the full-time, permanent position will “work closely with community partners and provides strategic advice to foster agricultural and agri-food development in the Pontiac.” Applicants will require a degree or work experience in an agricultural environment, fluency in both French and English and an ability to work independently.
Responsibilities
– Promote and market agriculture/agribusiness and agri-food opportunities in all our communities to farmers, entrepreneurs and investors;
– Support municipalities, organizations, agencies and agricultural and agri-food committees in our territory (e.g., Union des producteurs agricoles, Comité agricole, Table agroalimentaire de l’Outaouais, etc.);
– Assist in the promotion of new and unique products, services and businesses;
– Support the attraction and retention of agricultural investments;
– Contribute to the management of funds and financial programs of the MRC Pontiac;
– Support and develop education and training programs that will have an economic impact on our region, in collaboration with existing education and training organizations;
– Assist farm/agri-businesses, organizations, etc. in submitting applications, proposals, etc. to local, provincial and federal programs;
– Establish and maintain contacts with local, provincial and federal government departments and organizations related to agricultural development;
– Contribute to the development and annual update of the agricultural components of the Vision 2030 strategic development plan;
– Carry out special projects, promotional events, etc;
– Carry out any other mandate given by management.
