Mansfield weightlifter Naomie Lusignan breaks Ontario record at Canadian Senior Women’s Weightlifting Championships
Mansfield weightlifter Naomie Lusignan made the Pontiac shine once again with a brilliant performance last Friday (July 9) at the Canadian Senior Women’s Weightlifting Championships. She finished second in her division despite her young age, only 15 years old and still competing in the junior divisions. Not only was she second in her group, but she took the opportunity to break a junior record in Ontario.
“I managed to break the record, in the junior category, of 3 kilos for the clean and jerk,” exclaimed the athlete from Mansfield.
This performance could allow her to make her debut on the international scene, says Naomie who trains in a weightlifting club in Pembroke and who therefore represents Ontario at its competitions.
“I now hope to continue competing to improve myself and try to lift 100 kilos in my next competition”
