Public health in the Outaouais says the situation in the region has improved except in the Pontiac, where the community spread of COVID-19 is still present. The acting director of public health in the Outaouais, Dr. Brigitte Pinard, explained at the press conference which took place on Wednesday that the investigation teams are continuing the work to trace the spread.

Our case investigation and follow-up team is very active right now. There was a transmission in the school environment and we know that this generates a transmission in other areas, among others in families
– Dre Pinard

The results from the investigations could take a few more days.

We are working hard to do all the follow-ups and to continue to trace to break the chain of transmission. We would like to thank the people who get tested, this is really important and this is how we can stop the spread ”, specifies Dr. Pinard.

One of the means to stop this community spread is, according to the CISSS de l’Outaouais, to speed up the vaccination. The person in charge of this vaccination campaign, Nency Héroux, drew a positive assessment of the mobile vaccination which took place in the Pontiac last week.

We went to a few municipalities; Fort-Coulonge, Otter Lake, Chapeau, Shawville, so there was vaccination anyway. We are satisfied even if we always want more. There is good collaboration from all of these municipalities and we have contributed to the increase in vaccination coverage. These are small teams but also small municipalities, in that sense, we are very happy.
– Nency Héroux
