Mayors once again vote 9 to 9, the resolution is rejected once more

18 March 2021 à 12:00 am

During yesterday’s (March 17) meeting of the council of mayors of the MRC Pontiac, a resolution was again tabled to proceed with the hiring of the consultant Pierre Vézina, whose contract was not renewed for 2021. This resolution, presented by the mayor of L’Isle-aux-Allumettes Winston Sunstrum, was to hire Pierre Vézina once again, but not only for the bio-park or for the Biomass Valorization Center (CVB), but as a consultant in the development of other industries present in the territory, namely the Davidson Mill (Mansfield), Jovalco (Litchfield) and Commonwealth Plywood Energy project located in Rapides-des-Joachims.

Just like the vote in November, as well as during the votes in January and February, the result was the same, 9 votes for and 9 votes against. The resolution was therefore rejected.

The Warden of the MRC Pontiac, Jane Toller, says she hopes for good news eventually regarding forestry industry projects in the Pontiac, including Davidson and Commonwealth Plywood.
