The Quebec Ministry of Transport (MTQ) has not advanced any official date for the end of the work on the Félix-Gabriel-Marchand Bridge. Ministry spokeswoman Rosalie Faubert told CHIP 101.9 that the date hasn’t been advanced for the end of the work, but made it clear on several occasions that the MTQ wants to complete the work in 2021.

The ministry says it has carried out several additional works which are still in progress and that more parts have been replaced than planned. The MTQ assures that they are doing everything to complete the bridge as quickly as possible this year.

“At the moment, the Ministry is in the process of replacing the lower ropes of the bridge, which are parts located under the structure. Then the bridge deck and the running surface, but for the moment the ministry does not wish to venture into an end period, ”explained MTQ spokesperson in Outaouais, Rosalie. Faubert.

The work seems to be lengthening while the MTQ must respect the history and heritage value of the bridge, which complicates the task of the repair project.

“We want to do the repair work on this important bridge which has significant heritage value. We have not set an end date, but we will do our best to complete the work in 2021, “Rosalie Faubert repeated a few times.

The work and stages of the bridge repair project began in 2018.

Remember that the Phare Ouest organization said it was ready this summer to celebrate the reopening of the Bridge by lighting up the structure once the work is completed.
