The MRC Pontiac in search of a new ally

The mayor of Gatineau, Maxime Pedneaud-Jobin, has already announced that he will not present himself for re-election in the municipal elections on November 7. Having his say and an important influence on regional issues, Maxime Pedneaud-Jobin has often taken a position by supporting the rural territories of the Outaouais on various issues, particularly in the health sector and during the 2019 floods and within the Conférence des Préfets de l’Outaouais, the mayor of Gatineau can have an impact on regional issues affecting the MRC Pontiac. The Warden of the MRC Pontiac, Jane Toller, acknowledged the support she received in the past from Maxime Pedneaud-Jobin.

“He supported me on the nurse compensation file, which created recruitment problems for us. The same goes for the flooding file, Maxime really supported our various approaches to the government, ”said Jane Toller.

During a meeting organized by the federal deputy for Pontiac, William Amos, Maxime Pedneaud-Jobin had declared to support the various projects organized in the rural territories of the Outaouais.

“When you have a grant, it will definitely pay off in Gatineau. For example, if there is a country festival, there is a good chance that your tourist will come and spend a night in Gatineau. We are really complementary ”explained Maxime Pedneaud-Jobin.

In the past, this link between the city of Gatineau and the MRC Pontiac was not so harmonious. The former Warden, Raymond Durocher, had also criticized certain positions of the former mayor of Gatineau, Marc Bureau, particularly in the area of economic development. The future will tell how the links will evolve between the city of Gatineau and the various MRCs of the Outaouais.
