The Outaouais and the Pontiac remain in the red zone

3 February 2021 à 12:00 am

The Premier of Quebec, François Legault, announced yesterday (Tuesday, February 2) that the Outaouais will remain on a maximum alert level, despite the changes that have been announced. Six regions in Quebec will now be in the orange zone, but the government has decided that for the moment, the rest of the province, including the Outaouais region, must remain in the red zone given the risks within hospitals. Moreover, François Legault specified that there will be no exception in the same region this time. Last fall, while other territories were in red, the MRC Pontiac was in the orange zone, which will not happen this time.

“There are people who will say, yes, but in my sub-region, things are not going so badly. It is true, but we have to look at the situation in the whole region, among others for hospitals. We have to look at the hospitalization rate throughout the region ”mentioned François Legault

.

Despite everything, the government announced the reopening of the stores as well as the resumption of face-to-face classes in CEGEPs and universities. Most of the containment measures remain, including the curfew from 8 p.m. Restaurant dining rooms also remain closed for the moment.

Remember that during François Legault’s press conference, the number of active cases for the entire Outaouais was 129. In the Pontiac Local Health Network (RLS), the number of cases is 5 or less.
