A petition asking the government to change the status of the MRC des Collines-de-l’Outaouais is currently circulating. The officials behind this petition are asking to move this territory, which is in the red zone, to the orange zone.

The municipal councilor of La Pêche, Michel Gervais, recently launched this petition in order to put pressure on the Public Health of the Outaouais (CISSS). “If we base ourselves on the number of cases detected in other MRCs in Quebec, which are now in the orange zone, the MRC des Collines de l’Outaouais could also be considered as such. The fact of keeping a red zone despite the many efforts that our merchants have put in place to respond to preventive measures is extremely damaging to the economic and social level of these small communities. Many services cannot be offered and residents must travel to obtain the desired products and services. We are aware that these are difficult times to go through but, while still keeping a good vigilance and respecting the rules of public health, the MRC could at least, being in the orange zone, offer certain services. and survive economically ” argued La Pêche councilor Michel Gervais. “So, for these reasons, we ask that the MRC des Collines de l’Outaouais move from the red to orange zone as quickly as possible” reads the petition.

Public Health has already indicated that it has no intention of changing this status for the moment. The desired number of signatures is 2,500, so far nearly 2,400 signatures have supported the process. The petition is available here.
