An additional investment of $ 2,204,695 over five years for community organizations that support families in the Outaouais region was announced Monday (November 9) by the Minister of Families and Minister responsible for the Outaouais region , Mathieu Lacombe. Mathieu Lacombe mentioned that he wants organizations to have the necessary means to accomplish their mission.

“I am pleased to announce this important investment to support community organizations that work with families by providing them with sustainable funding, but above all equitable for all, which no other government has done. As Minister of Families, I find it important that these organizations be able to have the means to meet the needs of families, especially in the difficult context we are currently experiencing. I would like to salute the exceptional work of the speakers who are directly in the field. You make a difference in the lives of our children, in addition to supporting many parents ”mentioned Mathieu Lacombe.

In total, $ 85 million over five years has been granted to family community organizations (OCFs) in the various regions of Quebec. The Government of Quebec is thus respecting its commitment to better support the development of children by providing more support to front-line resources in the field who work directly with families, including the most vulnerable.

Mathieu Lacombe specified that this funding enhancement will support more than 280 organizations with mission funding of $ 130,000 per year. In addition to increasing funding to organizations already funded by the Ministry, it was specified that the program will support nearly twenty others who were recognized, but received little funding. Organizations offering community drop-in daycare services will also benefit from additional support.

Mathieu Lacombe affirms that his government is in line with the Special Commission on the Rights of Children and Youth Protection which, last December, recommended increasing the funding of these organizations in order to allow them to fully play their local role with families and vulnerable children.
