The Ski Pontiac organization obtained $ 42,899.26 from the Regional and Rurality Fund Development Program (FRR) to build a new trail. Ski Pontiac has partnered with Pine Lodge to build a 3.5 km 4-season recreational trail.

This public trail will be open to the community during the winter months for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. During the rest of the year, it will be open to joggers and cyclists. The trail is located on the property of Pine Lodge, Bristol. Construction has started and is expected to continue in November.

“The project comes during a time when families are looking for a way to get outside and exercise in an environment where social distancing is easy to maintain. Exercise is essential for maintaining mental health and well-being, ”said Les Orr, President of Ski Pontiac. Ski Pontiac must contribute $ 7,000 to this project and to the maintenance of the trail, and has set up a Crowdfunding page. People who wish to donate can visit the Ski Pontiac website, www.skipontiac.com, or their Facebook page.

Ski Pontiac is a non-profit organization based in Bristol, near Norway Bay, that is 100% volunteer-run and offers groomed recreational trails open to the public. The organization mentioned that snowshoes are available free for use on the slopes.

Ski Pontiac announced that this trail initiative was made possible thanks to the support of the MRC Pontiac
