The Centre intégré de santé et de services sociaux (CISSS) de l’Outaouais announced that full-time work will be imposed on nurses and patient attendants in urban hospitals, namely Hull and Gatineau. This measure would be, according to the CISSS de l’Outaouais, applied to offer the services necessary to patients in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The interim human resources director of the CISSS de l’Outaouais, Robert Giard, said the organization no longer had the choice to apply a ministerial decree to suspend certain provisions of collective agreements.

This means that the employees of these departments holding a part-time job will have to occupy a full-time job. Robert Giard said that the CISSS de l’Outaouais will try to accommodate, as much as possible, the affected employees.

As mentioned by Robert Gard, this measure will not apply, for the moment, to the Pontiac Hospital located in Shawville.
