Quebec side of the Ottawa River designated as a heritage site
The Quebec section of the Ottawa River has been designated as a heritage site by the Government of Quebec. Now both the Ontario and Quebec sides of the river are considered heritage/historical sites, this designation is recognised at all three levels of government.
Pontiac MNA André Fortin says that the Ottawa River is the second river that has received the designation since the Cultural Heritage Act came into effect in 2012.
The 681 kilometers stretch of the Ottawa River that extends from Lake Temiscamingue to the western boundary of the Island of Montreal and is now a historic site under the Cultural Heritage.
