On Friday morning (October 7), MRC Pontiac held a press conference unveiling their new regional art gallery, at the MRC office in Campbell’s Bay.

The newly painted Elsie Gibbbons room, which hosts council of mayors meetings among other things, has been redesigned by Caitlin Brubacher of Elephant in the Attic, an art curation and framing studio based in Portage-du-Fort. Pieces from local artists are currently being displayed on the walls, and above the windows on one side are the portraits of the wardens of the Pontiac.

Sabrina Ayers, an economic development officer with the MRC explained that the gallery has been in place since 2008, but the works used to be displayed in the hallway and some offices.

She said that a group of works created by the youth from the Pontiac Maison des Jeunes would be displayed in one of the front hallways as well.

The works in the Elsie Gibbons room can be viewed during the MRC’s business hours (so long as the room is not being used for meetings) which are Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to noon and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
