On Wednesday evening (October 5) a handful of citizens and media gathered at the Shawville Community Lodge for an initial meeting to plan the celebrations for the 150th anniversary of the municipality’s incorporation, which is next year.

Lasting about an hour, the meeting was led by councillor Katie Sharpe and attendees brainstormed ideas, funding options as well as potential members to recruit. The attendees proposed to add more activities to other annual events in the town calendar, such as the Canada Day celebrations.

Sharpe explained that they would be having more meetings down the road and they were open to ideas.

Anyone wanting to join, share their ideas, or let the committee know about activities planned for next year, should contact Scott Campbell at the town hall at 819-647-2979 or info@town.shawville.qc.ca
